Brown Chickpea Chaat

Sharing is caring!

Hello friends, Welcome to Spring and Early Summer :-). The temperature is already in the 90 F and getting hotter day by day. Summer is also a weather where you don't want to eat heavy food. This brown chickpea chaat is  light, lip-smacking, tangy, savory , spicy and delightful salad. It is made with boiled brown chickpeas ( kala chana) tossed with your favorite veggies and amazing flavorful spices. This brown chickpea chaat can also be served as a snack, an appetizer, or even as a party stater.

One of the most nutritious beans -  Brown chick peas( Kala Chana) are rich in iron, protein and folic acid. Curds enrich this tangy salad with more protein and calcium while coriander and mint increase its vitamin A content. Chill this salad before you serve it so as to relish its delightful flavors.

You can serve this dish warm or cold. This is a zero oil, vegan, healthy, filling and delicious snack. This recipe couldn’t be simpler. No, really, it couldn’t. Boil Brown chickpeas, chop up a small onion (or spring onions), roughly chop coriander, carrots, corn, cucumber, bell pepper , tomatoes and if you like, a deseeded green chilly too. Mint wouldn’t hurt. Lemon or lime would give it a tangy flavor. Add all the spices & chat masala to taste and mix. Eat :D

This protein-rich chaat makes an excellent anytime snack for your kids, and will boost their energy levels when they are tired. A no-fuss snack, it will take just a few minutes to mix this Brown chickpea Chaat .

If you are a salad person like me and like to enjoy something light & refreshing, here is a list of some of my favorite salads from the blog.

This reminds me a lot of something my grandmother used to make me growing up. Forgot what she used to call it but the ingredients and spices seem really familiar! Definitely giving this a try ?
