This Instant Pot Yellow Turmeric Rice is full of flavors and makes an elegant side dish for any occasion. Infused with the goodness of Turmeric and Garlic this rice super easy to make in your pressure cooker or Instant Pot. No sticky bottom or mushy rice, each grain is separate. Tempering
- 1 tbsp oil / ghee
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 3-4 garlic cloves chopped
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
Rice
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 cup water
- salt to taste
Garnishing
- 1/4 cup parsley / cilantro chopped
- 1 cup pomegranate arils
- 1 tsp sliced almonds
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly and keep aside.
- Press the Saute mode and heat the oil or ghee in the Instant Pot.
- Once the oil is hot, temper it cumin, turmeric, garlic and garam masala.
- Cook for a min and stir.
- Now add in the rice and stir for a min again.
- Finally add the salt and water and cover the lid.
- Seal the vent and pressure cook on Manual or Pressure Cook mode for 6 minutes.
- Allow pressure to naturally release for about 10 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley, pomegranate arils and almond slices and serve warm with yogurt or raita.
Notes
If you use Jasmine or Brown rice, refer to the pressure cook times and rice to water ratios here.
