KEY INGREDIENTS

Pressure cook the Chana Dal in the Instant Pot for 12 minutes followed by a quick release of pressure. The chana dal should be almost cooked.

To make the filling, in a large mixing bowl, mash a boiled potato. Next, add a cup of cooked chana dal.   Finally, add all the remaining ingredients for the filling and then mix well and set aside.

Mash the potatoes, then mix in the corn starch and salt. Divide the potato mash into equal portions and form them into balls. Flatten each ball and make a well in the center.

When the well is ready, scoop 1 tablespoon of mixture into the well. Finally, seal the edges of the tikki or patty. Repeat the process until all the potato mixture is used.

Shallow fry on medium heat until golden brown. When they are done, place them on a paper towel to remove any excess oil on both sides.

Serve them immediately with your favorite gravies, chutneys, sauces or pack them in a burger.
