Love beets but not sure how to cook them? When you want to enjoy this tasty root veggie, you need to follow these tips on how to cook beets. We present three simple methods, including boiled, Instant Pot, or air fried to suit your tastes and needs.
For boiled beets, place the beets in a large saucepan and add water to cover completely. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Cool beets under running water and peel.
To cook in the Instant Pot, wash and trim beets. Cook beats in steamer basket or on a trivet on high pressure for 15 minutes. Naturally release pressure for 10 minutes. Allow the beets to cool and the peel will slide off.
For the air fryer, scrub the beets thoroughly, then wrap them loosely in aluminum foil. Place the wrapped beets in the air fryer basket. Set to 380F. Air fry for 30-35 minutes for the perfect texture.
Make sure you clean the beets well before cooking them to remove any excess dirt. When cooking, remember that bigger beets take a longer time than smaller beets so you may need to adjust your times as needed.
You can then use the cooked beets in your favorite salads, soups, sides, and main dishes.
