All natural, no sugar Fig & Date Dry-Fruit Bites are tasty and are made with ingredients that you control. I have been wanting to make these rolls for about 2 years now but just got around to making them now. These delicious Fig & Date Dry-Fruit bites are studded with crunchy nuts and are sugar free.
Fig & Date dry fruits bites are so tempting and delectable that everyone will keep craving for more and more. The health benefits of Figs and Dates are far too many. Figs are a good source of dietary fiber, potassium and manganese. Dates gives instant energy and revitalizes the body instantly. I usually make this sweet during winter season.
Dates are made up mostly of simple sugars which means they can be metabolized easily making them an ideal pre-workout snack. Being sugar free makes this a guilt free indulgence for those of you who watch sugar in your diet. With the softness of figs and dates, the bite of pistachios , cashews & almonds they are perfect for your sweet cravings. Its even a perfect way to upcycle leftover dried fruit from your diwali :) into these sweet bites for a kid-friendly snack .
A lot of folks think that dates spike up blood sugar levels. However as per a study published in the Nutrition Journal, certain varieties of Dates have a low glycemic index that ranges between 46 to 55 and their consumption even by diabetics does not result in significant postprandial glucose excursions. Infact Dates are rich in carbohydrates, salts, minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, proteins, and fibers. On the other hand Dr. Mark Hyman in his book Eat Fat, Get Thin, talks about how these nuts contain healthy monounsaturated fats, along with some omega-3s. If you think, eating fat makes you fat, Dr. Hyman has done an amazing job sorting through the confusing science around fat. I highly recommend for you to grab a copy if you haven't read this book yet.
I always have this at home and me & my hubby love to munch on 1 or 2 Fig & Date Dry fruit squares whenever they crave for something sweet. Some of my other favorites are Dry fruit ladoo, Panjiri.
You can give these to kids after they are back from school or even pack it in their snack box. My 11 year old R2 loves them with he goes for his swim meets. He munches on them after his every swim. They are healthy and very nutritious.

These look like something you'd find (overpriced) at somewhere like Whole Foods. Great job! They would be perfect for a pre-workout energy bite.
