How to Sprout Mung beans at home using an Instant Pot
The Instant Pot makes a lot of recipes, even sprouting beans, easy!
Start by rinsing and soaking the whole mung beans overnight for about 8 to 10 hours or until they swell and double in size. After they have soaked, drain the water using a colander.
Next, transfer the soaked beans into a steamer basket for your Instant Pot. Once they are in the basket, place a trivet in the inner pot and place the steamer basket with the soaked mung beans on top.
Once they are placed on the trivet, close the lid and use the yogurt function for 12 hours in summer and 24 hours in winter, so the beans can sprout. It typically takes about 2 days for them to sprout completely.
Once sprouted, you can store them in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or make a sprouted mung stir fry.
How to sprout mung beans without an Instant Pot
If you don’t have an Instant Pot, you can sprout them naturally using the following steps.
First, thoroughly rinse the beans and then soak the whole mung beans overnight for about 8 to 10 hours or until they swell and double in size. After they have soaked, drain the water using a colander.
Next, wash them in clean water and drain in a colander.
Finally, transfer all the drained beans to a container, cover them, and set aside. They will sprout on their own in a few days. If they don’t sprout, rinse them and drain them again.

The sprouted beans are beautiful. I used 1/2 cup. I used my instant pot for about 35 hours. I did rinse them and mix them around a couple of times during that period but they are beautiful. Thank you. I can't wait to use them.
