What is Dill Dip?
Dill dip is a creamy, mayo based dish that is perfect for dipping veggies, bread, chips, or other treats into. The dip has a very distinct flavor, similar to dill pickles.
Our dill dip is smooth, creamy, and really highlights the dill flavor. You can enjoy it with your favorite dippers or follow one of our air fryer recipes to make a healthier snack for your kids and family.
What ingredients are needed to make the best Dill Dip
For the best dill dip, you’ll want to use the following ingredients.
- Mayonnaise - You can use regular mayo or sub in Greek yogurt for more protein.
- Sour cream - This adds a bit of tang to the dip.
- Onion flakes - If you prefer, you can omit this, but it adds some great extra flavor.
- Fresh dill - The main flavor for the dip comes from dill, so you need to keep it.
- Fresh parsley - This adds some freshness to the dip.
- Seasoned salt - Seasoned salt adds a bit of flavor, but regular salt can also work.

Pro tips and tricks
This super simple recipe doesn't require much culinary skill, but you may find these tips helpful when making the dip.
- Make sure to leave it sit for at least 30 minutes. This helps the flavors merge and come together. You can even leave it overnight if you like.
- When storing for later, make sure to transfer it to an airtight container.
- Pair the dip with your favorite dippers.

Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! You can easily make dill dip ahead of time. It should store well in an air tight container in the fridge for about 3 to 4 days. For best results, we recommend making the dip several hours ahead so the flavors all come together.
How to store Dill Dip
Once you make the dill dip, you should transfer the dip to an airtight container. You can then place the dip in the fridge and store for about 3 to 4 days. This makes it a great make ahead dip for your next party or get together.
Substitutions
We like the creamy flavor of mayo, but if you prefer, you can substitute mayo for Greek yogurt. When you do this, the yogurt adds a bit of protein and lowers the fat, which may make it more attractive to some people.
You can also omit onion powder if you prefer or use garlic powder instead. You can also use dried minced onion instead of onion powder.
You can also add some fresh herbs to add some additional flavor and sprinkle with dried onions for the crunch.
We don’t recommend adding too many flavors to the dip because you want the dill flavor to really pop out.
