What are Elderberry Gummies?
Elderberry gummies are a tasty nutritional supplement that you can make at home. They are known for their health benefits, including helping to keep your immune system strong and keeping sniffles at bay. My family always use these healthy gummies to boost our immune system as the school year starts.
Elderberry Gummies Benefits
Elderberry gummies have lots of antioxidants and vitamins in each gummy to help keep the immune system strong. A strong immune system means less time spent fighting colds, flus and other nasty bugs.
They may also help to boost your heart health and help with stress and inflammation.
Elderberry Gummies for Kids
Our kids love elderberry gummies. They have a sweet flavor and are an easy way to get them to eat extra vitamins and nutrients. They are easy to give your kids right before school or right when they get home. Adults can take them before or after work too to help boost their immune system. Elderberry Gummies for kids is definitely our goto immune booster to make at home.
Elderberry Gummies Ingredients
- our homemade Elderberry Syrup
- sweetener like agave or maple syrup
- agar agar
- silicon molds and a dropper
How to make Elderberry Syrup Gummies
In order to make elderberry syrup gummies, you need to make elderberry syrup first following our recipe.
Once you have the syrup, heat the elderberry syrup in the Instant Pot set on saute mode. As the elderberry syrup heats up, add in the agave or maple syrup and agar agar. Agave or maple syrup adds sweetness while agar agar helps the gummies thicken.
Whisk the syrup continuously until it starts to thicken. Once it has thickened, cancel saute mode. Use a dropper or small spoon to pour the thickened syrup into the molds. Fill each of the cavities to the top.
Place the mold into the refrigerator. Allow them to chill for at least one hour and remove them when they are firm. Once removed from the molds, place the gummies in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
Pro tips and tricks to make the best Elderberry Gummies for Kids
- We use a gummy bear mold to make the gummies fun and cute, but you can use any small, bite size mold you have on hand.
- Don’t cook the sauce for too long. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
- If you prefer, you can use gelatin instead of agar agar, but they will no longer be vegan.
How do you store elderberry gummies?
You should store the gummies in an airtight container. Place the air tight container in the refrigerator. Do not just store in an open container, the gummies will dry out.
How long can I store them?
You can store them safely in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
How many elderberry gummies does one take in a day?
The number of gummies you can take will vary based on the size of the mold you use. If you use smaller molds, 2 to 3 may be right. If you have bigger molds, you may only need 1. For children, I would recommend checking with your child’s pediatrician to make sure you are giving them the proper amount.
Can I take them throughout the year?
Yes! You can take them all year long. But if you only want to use them once a year, I would recommend you use them during the beginning of the school year and during cold and flu season.
I am not vegan, can I add gelatin?
Yes you can. However, if you are vegan, do not use gelatin. You should use agar agar instead. Gelatin is not vegan friendly.

Can I give this to my 2 1/2 year old? Thank you.

Super late comment but I read that kids 4 & up should have elderberry gummies. So giving them to a 2 1/2 year old is probably not a good idea!

Why add more sugar when there is a lot of sugar added in the making of the syrup?
