Expert Tips and Tricks
- When you make these crispy sweet potato cubes in the air fryer you can use these pro tips to ensure you get the best results:
- Soak cubed potatoes in cool water for 30 minutes to remove extra starch.
- Make sure to cut the potato cubes to roughly the same size to avoid over or undercooking them.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauces for added flavor or add to your favorite meals.
First, coat the sweet potato with olive oil and salt.
Next, air fry at 395 F for 34 to 40 minutes or until it is fork tender .
Cutting sweet potatoes is very similar to cutting other potatoes, but you will likely find that these potatoes are a bit tougher to cut. We recommend using a sharp knife to cut into the fibrous flesh of the sweet potato.
When we make cubes, we often peel the potato first, but you could leave that in place if you like. Once you decide whether or not to peel, follow these steps to make cutting easier:
First, cut off the hard ends of the potato.
Next, place the potato on a flat, firm surface and cut it in half lengthwise.
Once cut in half, place the flat part of each half on the cutting board and cut slices across that are between ½ to 1 inch thick.
Next, cut each slice into as many roughly the same size cubes as they can make.
If you want to peel the skin before air frying your sweet potato, you definitely can. Of course, this is not necessary since the skin will cook up with the rest of the potato nicely.
To peel, we recommend you:
First, wash the potato and make sure to scrub off any caked on dirt or debris.
Next, cut off the ends of the potato.
Once the ends are off, use a vegetable peeler and peel the skin off working away from your body
We don’t soak the potatoes in our recipe, but you can soak them if you like. To soak the potatoes:
First, fill up a large bowl with cool water.
Next, place the sweet potato cubes in the water for 30 minutes.
Soaking the potatoes can help remove excessive starch, which will make them a bit crispier when you cook them up in the air fryer.
