What Is Ginger?
Ginger is a perennial herb native to China and India. It is obtained from the plant Zingiber officinale. It is one of the most revered medicines in Ayurveda. Ginger is often referred to as a root, but it is actually an underground stem called rhizome. Ginger is considered the ‘chest of medicine’ in Ayurveda due to its various health benefits.
Is ginger good for you?
Ayurved has been using ginger medicinally for centuries. Ginger is an extremely healthy herb with a variety of benefits. Research shows that ginger is effective in treating upset stomachs, nausea, motion-sickness, pregnancy, lowering cholesterol and inflammation. Though, it does not warrant skipping going to the doctor.
Does candied ginger help heartburn or acid reflux?
The list of benefits of ginger is huge, it relieves indigestion, nausea, colic, gas, heartburn, morning sickness, and motion sickness. In addition, crystallized ginger seems to protect against ulcers, is helpful against internal parasites, and may even ease acid reflux. Tried and tested remedy for coughs is ginger with honey. Ginger compresses relieve sore muscles, stomach cramps, and swollen glands. This is great stuff!!
Honestly, this Crystallized ginger has an amazing flavor!! It has the perfect combination of heat and sweet with a strong ginger taste. Once you have made the crystallized ginger, don't throw the sweet ginger syrup. Add it while baking cake or cookies or even making chai.
How long does Candied Ginger last?
Store the crystallized ginger in an airtight container in a dark, cool place. This helps it to last for several months.
