Making lemonade is super easy right, lemons, lemon juice, sweetener, water ice. Stir it all together for a while and lemonade is ready. So why am I sharing a homemade lemonade recipe today, you ask?
Well here is the thing, when you try to mix sugar in cold water, the sugar doesn’t dissolve completely and settles at the bottom. So I started doing what my mom and grandmom did, make a lemonade syrup or concentrate at home and use that to whip up a quick lemonade.
Lemonade Concentrate or Lemonade Syrup
Making lemonade syrup at home from scratch is super easy and frugal. All you need is lemon juice, lemon zest and a sweetener. Trust me this homemade lemonade recipe will soon become your go to lemonade recipe this summer.
Why you will love this homemade lemonade syrup?
- It comes together easily with 3 simple ingredients.
- You can make lemonade using this homemade syrup in seconds.
- It brings out the best sweet and tangy flavors as the sugar and lemon juice are perfectly dissolved.
- When the kids want to make their own lemonade, this comes in handy without the mess and after-cleaning.
- The lemonade syrup comes handy to make your cocktails and mocktails.
- This lemonade concentrate has a shelf life of upto 1 year if store appropriately.
- It’s super convenient when your have to make impromptu lemonade be it individual portions or large sizes.
- No repeating steps of cutting lemons everytime, juicing them and mixing. You just do it once and the syrup will take care of the rest.
- Lastly unlike the store bought lemonades, this lemonade is made with real lemon juice and is a much better option.
Homemade Lemonade Recipe
If you are convinced enough to make this lemonade syrup for your lemonades then bring on the lemons, sweetener and your pressure cooker like an Instant Pot or Mealthy.
This is just a gist of the recipe, the detailed recipe is available in the recipe card below.
Wash and zest the lemons.Cut and juice the lemons.
Strain the juice and add it to the inner pot of the pressure cooker.
Add in the sweetener. Sugar, maple syrup, honey, agave, monk fruit, any would do. If you use honey or maple syrup the color of the lemonade may slightly change.
Secure the lid and seal the vent.
Pressure cook for 1 minute and quick release.
Cool the syrup and then strain it into bottle or jar to store it.
Now you can use this lemonade syrup to make individual portions or a large pitcher by just adding water and ice.
Simple and easy right!
Pink Lemonade
Raise your hand if you are a fan of pink lemonade. Typically pink lemonade is more tart than the regular lemonade. Apparently it’s suppose to be more calming because of it’s light pink color. Store bought Pink Lemonades are artificially colored but this one here gets it’s color naturally.
You an use fruits like grapefruit, raspberries, cranberries or pomegranate to naturally color your pink lemonade. If you are making a pink lemonade concentrate then I’d add the fruit to the lemon juice and sugar and pressure cook it. For individual short order lemonade you can add any of those fruit juices. Detailed recipe available below in recipe card.
Strawberry Lemonade
With all that strawberry picking we did in Austria, not only did I make the best 3 Ingredient Strawberry Jam again, but we also made lots of strawberry lemonade. Simple refreshing and a great twist to the classic lemonade.
Naturally colored with fresh strawberries you can either make a strawberry lemonade concentrate by adding the strawberries to the lemon juice and sugar and pressure cook it. Or just simply add strawberry juice or nectar to your impromptu short-order. Detailed recipe available in recipe card below.
Mango Lemonade
Mangoes and Lemonade are made for summer. You know we love Mangoes because they are perfect for cool treats like the Mango Lassi, Mango Coconut Ice Cream, Mango Colada, Mango Salsa and our popular Mango Semolina Cake. Next on our Mango list goes this Mango Lemonade. This tropical lemonade is sure to tantalize your tastebuds.
You can either make a mango lemonade concentrate by adding mango chunks to the lemon juice and sugar and pressure cook it. Or of you need to make a short order, then adding mango nectar or juice will also do the trick. Detailed recipe available in recipe card below.
Cucumber Mint Lemonade
Another classic lemonade to beat the heat cool you down. If you have ever enjoyed the combination of cucumbers, mint and lemons you will know what I am talking about. If you don’t know what I am talking about try this lemonade now.
Make a cucumber mint crush in your blender, add the strained juice to the classic lemonade and enjoy the refreshing flavors. Detailed recipe available in recipe card.
How long can I keep homemade lemonade?
Although the concentrate is good for upto 1 year if stored appropriately in the refrigerator, once it’s mixed with water it is good for upto a week in the refrigerator.
How to juice lemons to get more juice
Microwaving them for 30 seconds and then juicing them
Pressing and rolling lemons on a counter top before cutting them
Using a citrus juicer definitely helps.
How long will frozen lemon juice keep?
If properly stored, it will maintain best quality for about 3 to 4 months, but will remain safe beyond that time. The freezer time shown is for best quality only — freshly squeezed lemon juice that has been kept constantly frozen at 0° F will keep safe indefinitely
Can you freeze leftover lemonade?
Yes ofcourse, pour it into a popsicle mold and add a popsicle stick, freeze it. your lemonade popsicle is ready.
So are you ready for summer? Make sure you stay hydrated and enjoy the seasonal fruits and drink like this lemonade. If you try this recipe, don;t forget to come back and leave us a comment below. Cheers!!!

Can I use something like stevia or Splenda as a sweetener so it is sugar free!
Anvita says
Hi Margaret, definitely you can use any sugar substitute of your choice
Pam says
It is hidden in the instructions.
274Grams says
Nope, can’t find it. Since the syrup is the main topic here, why can’t you make the recipe in big bold letters so everybody can find it. With lots of advertisements in your page, it’s making it more difficult to find it. Please just make the recipe more obvious rather than everybody have to search every nooks and crannies just to find it. Thank you.
Marla Dixon says
Hi! Can you double the recipe?
Mary says
Didn’t find the recipe card, went through the post 2 -3 times, was that the point?????
Soniya Saluja says
Hi Mary, you will always find the recipe card at the bottom of the post. Please scroll slowly and you will see it

Sorry, maybe I missed something? To make the syrup…wash and zest…juice and strain….So do you just put the juice and sweetner in the IP (no measurements, but I guess it’s whatever I want. What to do with the zest then?
