What is the Rice to Water ratio for cooking Brown Rice in the Instant Pot?

Guess what? The rice to water ratio to cook the perfect al dente rice in an Instant Pot is ALWAYS 1:1. Since the Instant Pot seal is tight and gives high pressure, there is barely any evaporation as compared to a stove top. Thus the 1:1 ratio works perfectly. The only thing that changes is the time needed for the water to work it’s way through the bran layer.

Do I need natural pressure release to cook Instant Pot Brown Rice?

Be patient. Let the Instant Pot release the pressure naturally. The process of releasing the pressure naturally is very important because the steam and moisture in the Instant Pot continues to cook the grains. It takes 15 minutes of natural release for cooking Brown Rice. If you do a quick pressure release, the rice will be under cooked. So patience is the key for perfect results.
