Why you will love these Avocado Toast Recipes
If you have been following me long enough on social media, you will know I take my toasts seriously. Toast is often my go-to breakfast on weekdays, because let’s face it’s a luxury to have slow morning. If your mornings are busy like mine, you are going to love these toast recipes because they are,
- Quick, simple and oh-so-good!
- Made with easily available pantry staples.
- Perfectly creamy and crunchy at the same time.
- Have the perfect flavors- savory, sweet, and tangy – so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Ingredients for Avocado Toast
To make a good Avocado Toast you will need the ingredients below. For quantities refer to the recipe card.
- Avocado – opt for softer ripe avocado than a hard yet-to-ripe avocado.
- Bread – opt for thick slices of sourdough, multigrain or if you are like me who likes to bake your own bread, check out our No-Knead Ciabatta Bread Recipe.
- Salt, because just a pinch makes everything taste better.
- Lemon Juice, will help delay the browning or oxidation of avocado.
Equipment
A great avocado toast begins with the perfectly crispy golden brown slice of bread. You can either use a toaster to toast the bread or my favorite way to get a good crunch in my toast is air frying the bread in my air fryer. Check out our air-fryer toast recipe if you want to get that perfect crunch.

Selecting the Ideal Avocado
Choosing the right avocado is crucial for a creamy, luscious topping. Here's how to pick the best one:
- Check the skin: A ripe avocado typically has a darker skin and yields slightly when gently squeezed.
- Remove the stem: Carefully flick off the small stem at the top. If the exposed flesh is green, your avocado is ripe; if it’s brown, it might be overripe.
By choosing the right avocado, you'll ensure a smooth and flavorful mash every time.
Instructions on how to make the perfect Avocado Toast
- Toasting: Toast your bread in a toaster or better yet air fry it for that perfectly crispy crunchy texture. Check out Air Fryer Toast Bread Recipe. While the bread is toasting prepare the mash.
- Scooping: Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Use a spoon to scoop the flesh into a bowl.
- Mashing: Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocado until you reach your desired consistency.
- Add flavor: Stir in a pinch of salt and the juice of half a lemon to enhance the flavor and slow down browning.
- Spread the prepared mash over your crispy toast and pick your favorite topping from below.
Avocado Toast Topping Ideas
- Avocado Mash with Chili Flakes: For those who enjoy a kick sprinkle a generous amount of chili flakes on top or adjust the salt to taste for the perfect balance of heat and flavor.
- Spiralized Cucumber with Everything Bagel Seasoning: For a refreshing crunch with a burst of flavors from the seasoning, layer spiralized cucumber over the avocado mash. Finish with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning for an added complex flavor.
- Cucumber and Cherry Tomato Slices with Everything Bagel Seasoning: For a fresh, savory take, this topping boasts both texture and taste. Arrange thin slices of cucumber and cherry tomato on the avocado mash. Season generously with everything bagel seasoning to enhance the flavors.
- Avocado Mash with Feta or Cotija or Paneer Crumble and Pomegranate Arils: This combination offers a sweet, tangy twist with a touch of creaminess. Top your avocado mash with crumbled feta or cotija cheese or paneer. Add pomegranate arils for a burst of color and sweetness. This one is my favorite.
Avocado Toast Seasonings
Make this Avocado Toast your own, by giving it your own twist.
- Add Chaat Masala or Kala Namak instead of everything bagel seasoning
- A Balsamic glaze or Sriracha will definitely elevate your toast game.
- Go for the classic Salt and Pepper, Lemon or Lime Zest, Smoked Paprika, Tajin, or Italian Seasoning.
Storage
If incase you have any leftover mash, store it in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to help maintain freshness.
Anvita's Top Tip
Make sure to mix lemon or lime juice into the mash. This aids in preventing oxidation.
