When you want to make a good apple smoothie, you’ll need these ingredients:

  • Apples - You can either use your favorite unpeeled apples or follow this recipe for homemade applesauce and use that instead.
  • Banana - You want to pick a ripe but not overripe banana.
  • Peanut butter - You could use almond butter if you prefer.
  • Maple syrup - This adds some optional sweetness while keeping the smoothie vegan.
  • Cinnamon powder - The cinnamon adds some flavor reminiscent of fall.
  • Unsweetened Almond milk - This provides a creamy base for the smoothie and keeps it vegan.
  • Handful of ice

Can you put a whole apple in a smoothie

We don’t recommend putting a whole apple in a smoothie. Even the best blenders won’t breakup the core fully. The seeds can also be bitter, which can make the flavor of the smoothie unpleasant. It’s best to quarter the apples and remove the core for the smoothest consistency and better flavor.

Can you freeze apples for smoothie?

Yes, you can use frozen apples in smoothies. You will probably get the freshest flavor using freshly picked or non-frozen apples, but if you have a lot of frozen apples, you can use them for a smoothie without any issues.

When you cut apples, you can reduce wastage by using a special apple corer to remove the core. Once you have the core removed, you can then cut the apple in half and then cut into 2 to 4 pieces.   • Apples 2 unpeeled or 1 cup homemade apple sauce
  • Banana 1
  • Peanut or almond butter 1 tbsp
  • Maple syrup ½ teaspoon (optional)
  • Cinnamon powder ½ teaspoon
  • Unsweetened Almond milk or any other milk 1 ½ cup
  • Handful of ice
